AIEEE Paper leak : Exam on May 11 amid tight security
NEW DELHI: The All India Engineering /architecture Entrance (AIEEE) aspirants who could not appear in the entrance test conducted on Sunday because of the question paper leak in Lucknow will now have to sit for the exam scheduled to be conducted on May 11. Central Board of Secondary Education, the body which conducts this exam, has decided to postpone the date of exam by one more day so that the date does not clash with other entrance tests.
Around 32,400 candidates could not take the exams as the rescheduled timing of AIEEE on Sunday clashed with the timing of the Armed Forces Medical Course (AFMC) exam in the evening for which they were dual aspirants.
"Initially, we thought of May 8, which is a Sunday and later we decided on May 10. But we have been receiving lot of requests from parents and candidates not to reschedule the exams on May 8 and 10 as there are other medical and engineering entrances scheduled for those dates. So, we finally decided on May 11,'' said chairman of CBSE, Vineet Joshi.
The exam will be conducted across 38 cities from 9.30am to 12.30pm.
According to CBSE officials , the board will allow only four categories of students to appear for the rescheduled exams . They are those who could not appear in the AIEEE exam because the exam centre where they were to appear was an AFMC exam centre also, those who could not appear in the AIEEE exam because they were to appear for AFMC exam at a different centre, those who could not appear in the AIEEE exam because of some administrative reasons and those who had applied for online mode of the exam but could not appear because of AFMC exam at different centres.
"For those who could not appear in the exam because the AIEEE exam centre was an AFMC exam centre also and centre could not conduct AIEEE exam the city, centres and roll numbers of such candidates will remain the same. For candidates who could appear in AIEEE as they were to appear in AFMC at a different centre or for other administrative reason they should register online on CBSE website for appearing in re-scheduled AIEEE exam. But there will be no change in their roll numbers ,'' said Joshi.
Meanwhile, online mode candidates who could not take the exam because of AFMC exam at different centres, such candidates should register online on CBSE website for appearing in re-scheduled AIEEE exam and they will have to appear for paper/pen test only. Their roll number will also remain unchanged.
On the probe instituted by the Board, the chairman said that committee was supposed to submit the findings within four weeks. "The committee comprises experienced people and it will look into all the aspects leading to the paper leak. This is a serious matter,'' said Joshi.

"May 11 is a working day, but we have no choice given the clash with other examinations," Joshi said, assuring that the May 11 question paper will be of the same standard than the test taken by most students on May 1.
The board is also worried that some candidates who gained insight into the standard and types of questions by taking the AIEEE on May 1 may take the May 11 test instead of genuine candidates - to boost scores for a fee.
The CBSE is putting in place additional security measures.
