CBSE goes global & offers international curriculum
Twenty-five private schools from the Gulf and East Asia have already opted for CBSEI. It will be on par with the International General Certificate of Secondary Education and the International Baccalaureate.
"We hope to build the CBSEI as a brand in the years to come. It will be in demand not only with the children of the Indian diaspora but also among foreigners," CBSE chairman Vineet Joshi said.
Schools in Oman, the UAE, Qatar and Singapore have shown keen interest in joining CBSEI. The principals of these schools met human resource development minister Kapil Sibal.
The affiliation fee for the schools will be Rs 2.5 lakh, double that of the existing charge. The board will have a curriculum of international standards with a lot of flexibility.
For instance, apart from focusing more on world history and geography, it will also teach geography in the context of the students geographical region.
This curriculum will follow the procedure of continuous and comprehensive exams and there will be no board exam at the end of Class X.
